Lane Ends, London Road
Lane Ends, what is now the traffic light junction. Ahead is the village centre, left is Chester Road, right is Station Road. Written on the back is "Major Toler's". David Arthur Hodges Toler was born at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, on September 13 1920 and educated at Stowe before going up to Christ Church, Oxford, to read Agriculture. He was appointed Commander Land Forces in Northern Ireland at the start of the Troubles in 1969. His father was also Major Toler.
