A school sack race, a traditional summer Sports Day race in which children stepped inside a rough old sack and then had to ‘hop’ over the ground to race each other along a short course. In this case, at Holmes Chapel, but typical of thousands of similar events across the nation each summer.

The Queen was Joan Chesters and retiring Queen Gwen Kendrick. The choirboy was Douglas Benson and Page Boy Philip Hardwicke.

Aladdin concert in Saltersford Hall Memorial Hall in early 50's. cast Fay Barratt (Aladdin), Beryl Robinson (Widow Twanky), Margaret Barr (Hi See), Graham Rathbone (Abanazor), Tony Appleton (The Emperor of China), Muriel Burgess (Princess so Sweet), Sheila Hillsden (Julianna), Victor Byron (The Grand Vizer), Angela Burrows (Wishee Washee), Rena Mandeville (Slave of the Ring), Gillian Prescott (Slave of the Lamp),
The chorus consisted of Misses R Frost, S Pickstock, S Hillsdon and the Junior chorus comprised Misses A Winter, J Oakes, B Bates, L Henshaw, E Warburton, P Swettman the solos taken by Adrian Winter. Ballet dancers were B Bates and B Knowles.
It was reported as one of the best amateur shows seen in Holmes Chapel for a long time.
